Do I need to provide a chemistry test certificate with my entry?

You are not required to provide chemical tests with your entry. NYIOOC conducts chemical testing on all entries through the olive oil testing portal,

Who can register?

Extra virgin olive oil brands may be entered in the competition by any company or organization responsible for the brand in the market. This can be a farm, mill, cooperative, bottler, importer, distributor or marketer.

The number of entries will be limited. Past NYIOOC winners are guaranteed entry if registered before January 1, 2018.

The New York International Olive Oil Competition is organized by Olive Oil Times, the publication of record and most-read source of information about olive oil. You can contact the organizers here.

How do I enter my olive oils in the competition?

  1. Fill out the online registration form.
  2. Send your olive oils to NYIOOC. Learn more about shipping your samples here.
  3. Winners will be announced April 26th, 2018.

Who are the competition judges?

The New York International Olive Oil Competition is judged by the most distinguished panel of international experts ever assembled for an olive oil contest.

How much does it cost to enter?

The cost to enter the contest is $275 before January 1, 2018. After January 1, until the close of registration, the cost is $300. Register online here.

Should My Samples be Labeled?

Yes! If your olive oil wins an award, it will be photographed and publicized. Samples should be of the same packaging you use in the marketplace.

How will my samples be stored?

NYIOOC entries are immediately masked, coded and stored in our secured, climate-controlled vault that maintains the oils at 14-15°C (57.2-59.0°F) under 100% UV-free lighting. You can see the current conditions here:

Do I need to be in New York for the competition?

No, certainly not. But your olive oil does.

When will the winners be announced?

The contest winners will be unveiled at a press conference and reception on Thursday, April 26th, 2018. Complete results will be distributed through the international media and indexed on the website
